First Responder Peer Support Training

This in-person basic training is designed specifically for first responders and public safety staff, including but not limited to: peace officers, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, EMS, and corrections wanting to become a public safety peer to peer counselor in Minnesota.  Public safety officials attending this training will gain knowledge, understanding, and skills to be effective peer support team members through:

·         Enhanced decision making, communication, and support skills 

·         Understanding resilience, wellness, and cultural factors that influence interactions

·         A basic understanding of common mental health and behavioral reactions

·         Suicide risk, recognition, and intervention models

·         Learn the foundations of setting up and coordinating a peer support team

·         Understanding available resources such as clinical consultation and support

Credits

This training meets educational requirements of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Peer Support Training 30-hour requirement and is POST approved for 30 POST credits, including Officer Wellness and Crisis Intervention/Mental Illness Crisis.


Fees

$500/attendee.  $400/attendee for LE-AST Services contracted agencies.
